Original Butterfly Art - "Large White" with 24c gold
This piece is available to view and purchase at Artisan Gallery in Exmouth, tel: 07467 287287 for details.
Butterflies...is there anything that captures all the 'feels' of summer and nature more perfectly? I wish I could offer a more profound or symbolic reflection, but the truth is, sometimes, I paint subjects purely because I find them captivating.
If I had to find a more profound meaning, butterflies do carry powerful symbolism of transformation, hope, renewal and gentle strength.
I have vivid memories of my father pointing out different butterfly species as a child; perhaps that’s where my fascination began? To this day, butterflies continue to enchant me for their delicate form, vibrant colour and sense of fleeting freedom. This ‘British Butterflies’ collection therefore begins with three 'mini originals' on 24 carat gold-gilded box canvas. Each original piece is encased in its own deep-edge black frame, making them feel as special as the look.
“Large White” commonly known as "Cabbage White" (Pieris brassicae)
Original.
Mini box canvas (14x14cm) mounted in a deep edge box frame with acrylic ‘glass’ (27x27cm)
Mixed media: Acrylic & 24 carat gold gilding.
£225 plus delivery or free to collect from Exeter.
As with most of my work, each piece features my trademark textured gilding for a contemporary edge, providing the uplifting feeling of light into your home.
