The nuthatch is a bird like no other - bold, agile and unafraid to see the world from a different angle. Unlike most birds, it moves effortlessly both up and down trees.

With its striking blue-grey plumage, warm chestnut tones and distinctive black eye stripe, it’s instantly recognisable. Fiercely independent and full of personality, quick, determined and resourceful. Nuthatches aren’t ones to follow the crowd, preferring to carve their own path, even if it means hanging upside down to get where they need to be!

Male and female nuthatches look almost identical, though the female has a slightly browner stripe around the eye; another subtle nod to nature’s quiet balance. As clever planners and birds with foresight, they store food in tree crevices to see them through the leaner months.

This painting captures the nuthatch’s unique traits that set them apart; a perfect reminder that perspective is everything and sometimes, the bravest way to move through life is to embrace a different view.

  • The beautiful shift of gold…

The gold tones in this artwork are not 24-carat and may evolve gracefully over time, developing soft shades of patina and aged gold. This transformation is intentional—a living element that allows the piece to grow and change with you.

Some surfaces are deliberately left unsealed to encourage this natural evolution. The resulting patina is a celebrated feature, making each artwork truly unique.
