Autumn leaves

Big beautiful copper autumn leaves form the inspiration behind this piece which is designed to be ‘interactive art’; I’ve deliberately left some leaves unvarnished, some partly and some fully varnished. This means that the unvarnished leaves may tarnish or even patina/verdigris over many years (depending on the humidity and conditions) to reflect life cycle. 
I’ve enjoyed creating this piece so much: The process has almost taken me back to my childhood as I’ve spent time (the first in years) really looking at the autumn leaves and their beautiful colours: Often, it’s the simple things in life that are the best and leave the most lasting impact. The leaves also represent ‘change’ and to embrace inevitable change: change can be good and the start of something new/beautiful.
